Join us for the Hypermode Knowledge Graph + AI Hackathon Challenge
Hack the future of AI infrastructure with Modus, Dgraph, Neo4j and more – with $10k up for grabs
The Hypermode team is excited to announce the Hypermode Knowledge Graph + AI Challenge, an opportunity to innovate at the intersection of artificial intelligence and knowledge graphs with a prize pool of $10,000 USD.
Event Details:
Dates: December 16, 2024 – January 12, 2025
Winners announced: January 16, 2025
Prize pool: $10,000 USD
Why Knowledge Graphs + AI?
GenAI models still struggle with domain-specific knowledge. Traditional RAG partially solves the problem, but human language is not deterministic. As such, many AI apps fall well short of their promise and hallucinate frequently.
Knowledge graphs and GraphRAG are quickly becoming the best-in-class practices for creating shared understanding between humans and AI.
Tools like Neo4j and Dgraph provide a semantic layer that allows AI systems to understand relationships, context, and nuance in ways traditional databases cannot enable. This semantic layer unlocks agentic workflows, where your agent has a dramatically better sense of what models, tools, and data to call because it understands your data relationships.
Combining knowledge graphs with AI enables:
Enhanced Contextual Intelligence: Move beyond surface-level pattern recognition to deep, nuanced understanding.
Improved Reasoning Capabilities: Create AI systems that navigate complex logical connections.
More Transparent Decision-Making: Trace the reasoning path of AI models with clear, interpretable connections.
Our challenge for you is to create a model-native app using Modus, at least one AI model, and one or more knowledge graphs to demonstrate breakthrough applications that leverage knowledge graphs to supercharge AI performance across industries.
How to Participate:
Register: Sign up on Devpost
Review Guidelines: Familiarize yourself with the hackathon rules, submission requirements, and award categories. The challenge is to build a model-native app using Modus, at least one AI model, and a knowledge graph. We leave the knowledge graph implementation up to you, but we recommend Neo4j and/or Dgraph. Starter kits for both Modus + Neo4j and Modus + Dgraph are available for you to use.
Build Your Project: Develop your solution individually or as part of a team.
Submit: Provide your project details — including a code repository and an optional demo video — by January 12, 2025.
Resources & Support:
Starter Kits: Register for the hackathon to get access to our knowledge graph + AI starter kits and get a leg up on building your model-native app with Modus.
Join Workshops: We’ll be running a series of hands-on workshops throughout the hackathon to help inspire and guide your projects. Follow the Hypermode event calendar on Luma to discover and RSVP for these online workshops.
Community: Join discussions and ask others for assistance on our Discord server.
We can't wait to see the innovative solutions you'll create.
